Come SITS By Me!

Note:  This actually happened on Tuesday, March 15.  What a fun day it was!  So much support from all over the virtual world!  Thanks, SITS girls, for the opportunity to meet so many wonderful bloggers.  Now I'm off to San Diego to speak at - what else? - the SITS Bloggy Boot Camp.  So it may be a few days until I post again.  Meanwhile, there are a few links in this post that will send you to some older stories; maybe you joined us after these were published.  Pop over and catch up, and I'll be back in the game ASAP!  ~DeNae

Today, my blog is featured on SITS, this totally groovy aggregate that brings women from all corners of blogland to one place to meet n' greet and offer virtual high-fives, or fist-bumps, or whatever non-verbal gestures of support are hip on a given week!

So, welcome one and all!  If you read my profile ---> you know that I'm a writer who has been taken completely by surprise by the serendipitous world of blogging.

Meaning, I only recently learned how to upload digital images to my posts.  Yes, that was a wonderful day for all of us.

I'm 46 years old, mom to four nearly grown kids, and happily married to a guy I've known my whole life.  Hey, I'm all about trying new things, but why fix stuff that ain't broken?  Twenty-six years yesterday, and he still makes my heart skip a beat just by holding my hand.  Needless to say, there are times when my heart, liver, spleen, and both kidneys also skip beats, but I don't talk about those things around here...

Anyway, make yourselves at home, and if you're looking for something to read, here are some options:

The Cat's Out of the Bag(pipe), which serves as a warning against combining indoor weddings and musical instruments of mass destruction.

The Great Sheet Surprise of 1999, which demonstrates the sad correlation between the improper use of bedding and the steady decline of ACT scores.

Something for Everyone, which explains my tendency to become attached to, well, everything.

Now, while I'm definitely a religious gal, I don't often blog about faith.  But here are a couple of posts that might interest you, particularly if you've ever wondered how ancient Israelite women handled their "lady weeks."

This is one of my favorites.  All We, Like Sheep tells of the lessons learned high in the Peruvian Andes, lesson number two being 'Bring Your Own Oxygen.'  Lesson number one was, well, bigger.

Finally, if you happen to be in San Diego this weekend for the SITS Bloggy Boot Camp, come up and say "Hi!"

I'll be speaking on writer's voice, narrative arc, and why it's crazy important to keep your wedding dress away from open flames.  And that's just in the morning!

That afternoon, I'll join forces with Mama Kat for a writers' workshop where we guarantee that you'll walk away with a new enthusiasm for blogging and a couple of great ideas for posts, starting with "I Met These Two Awesome Women at BBC."

I know!  I can hardly wait to read that one!

Happy SITS Day and congrats on your anniversary! What a wonderful accomplishment! I, too, don't often blog about my faith, although I did last Friday and it was kind of a doozy! :)

Congratulations on your SITS day. I hope you have many visitors and gain lots of followers.

I, too, am a no-pictures blogger. I knew from the beginning that if I added that element my posts would be even farther and fewer between. It sure pays to know yourself.

Best wishes this weekend. May it all go swimmingly -- especially if you find yourself near the pool.

I love your blog and am so, so sad that I just so happen to be stuck in the cowfields of Tennessee while you are talking at the conference in CA. Happy SITS day to you, and let a sister know if you ever plan on speaking at a country farm!

Happy SITS Day and happy anniversary! :o)

I was simply *elated* to find your blog through SITS, because I'm a writer myself (I finished a novel this fall but have two kiddos underfoot and one under-ribs - pregnant, LOL - and haven't had much energy or opportunity to submit to many publishers). Seeing that you've achieved your goals is fantastic!

Have a wonderful, wonderful SITS day!

Well hot dang, I too grew up in Utah, currently live in Seattle (Ok, across the sound), married a man I never intended to, and am now living some crazy woman's life. Must have been in the water.
I'm liking your theories, so maybe I should stick around an see if maybe we aren't related.
Utah and all... ;)

Congrats on your SITS day!! (I still gotta go over there and find out what a "SITS day" is.)

I love all your posts you featured. You didn't do my favorite one, though, which is the "Don't you hate it when..." (I know that's not the real title...couldn't think of it.)

I wish so bad I could be in San Diego this weekend. I just know you're going to be FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC!!!

Love, your biggest fan.

Hapy SITS day Denae... I'm a wannabe writer... so you can be my newest role model. I mean, I wanna be a PUBLISHED writer on PAPER. I just had a bunch of article published in a parenting magazine so you can imagine that I am doing a little happy dance.
All thebest for Bloggy boo Camp... I'm just a leetle bit far away to make it this time (Auckland, New Zealand)

Oh Bloggy BOO camp??? Sorry I meant BOOT camp of course! Yes you can see I may be in need of a proofreader for my comments! PS LOVE the note to "Anonymous!"

Happy SITS day! I'll SITS by you anytime. Thanks for that brief comedic break from the most non-entertaining task known to humankind - online traffic school. Yes, I got my first ever speeding ticket (and I'm older than you) and am now desperately trying to finish this horrifically dull online class before time is up and I go to speeding ticket jail. So thank for the laughs, but I must go back to my class now.

Have fun in San Diego this weekend. Would love to take a writing workshop with you and Kat. Come to San Francisco or San Jose!

You are very funny! I really like your blog. I don't think there is a person on the planet who is living the life they thought they would. Somehow, things just don't go as planned. But they always end up just fine.

Hope you will be at Bloggy Boot Camp in Seattle.

The posts you linked are all good, but I think my all-time favorite of yours has to be the parody of an LDS testimony meeting with the characters from Clue. Pure gold.

Wish I could go to BBC this weekend, but alas, I'm not cool enough.
