Come SITS By Me!
Note: This actually happened on Tuesday, March 15. What a fun day it was! So much support from all over the virtual world! Thanks, SITS girls, for the opportunity to meet so many wonderful bloggers. Now I'm off to San Diego to speak at - what else? - the SITS Bloggy Boot Camp. So it may be a few days until I post again. Meanwhile, there are a few links in this post that will send you to some older stories; maybe you joined us after these were published. Pop over and catch up, and I'll be back in the game ASAP! ~DeNae
Today, my blog is featured on SITS, this totally groovy aggregate that brings women from all corners of blogland to one place to meet n' greet and offer virtual high-fives, or fist-bumps, or whatever non-verbal gestures of support are hip on a given week!
So, welcome one and all! If you read my profile ---> you know that I'm a writer who has been taken completely by surprise by the serendipitous world of blogging.
Meaning, I only recently learned how to upload digital images to my posts. Yes, that was a wonderful day for all of us.
I'm 46 years old, mom to four nearly grown kids, and happily married to a guy I've known my whole life. Hey, I'm all about trying new things, but why fix stuff that ain't broken? Twenty-six years yesterday, and he still makes my heart skip a beat just by holding my hand. Needless to say, there are times when my heart, liver, spleen, and both kidneys also skip beats, but I don't talk about those things around here...
Anyway, make yourselves at home, and if you're looking for something to read, here are some options:
The Cat's Out of the Bag(pipe), which serves as a warning against combining indoor weddings and musical instruments of mass destruction.
The Great Sheet Surprise of 1999, which demonstrates the sad correlation between the improper use of bedding and the steady decline of ACT scores.
Something for Everyone, which explains my tendency to become attached to, well, everything.
Now, while I'm definitely a religious gal, I don't often blog about faith. But here are a couple of posts that might interest you, particularly if you've ever wondered how ancient Israelite women handled their "lady weeks."
This is one of my favorites. All We, Like Sheep tells of the lessons learned high in the Peruvian Andes, lesson number two being 'Bring Your Own Oxygen.' Lesson number one was, well, bigger.
Finally, if you happen to be in San Diego this weekend for the SITS Bloggy Boot Camp, come up and say "Hi!"
I'll be speaking on writer's voice, narrative arc, and why it's crazy important to keep your wedding dress away from open flames. And that's just in the morning!
That afternoon, I'll join forces with Mama Kat for a writers' workshop where we guarantee that you'll walk away with a new enthusiasm for blogging and a couple of great ideas for posts, starting with "I Met These Two Awesome Women at BBC."
I know! I can hardly wait to read that one!
